Transfer Targets

Updated: Apr 7

There is a lot of uncertainty as to when football will return and it can be a difficult time right now both on and off Football Index for many. My thoughts sincerely go out to anyone who is going through a bad time right now due to the impacts of Covid-19.

The Football Index stock market has in fact been rising recently and although most money has been flooding into a select few players, this is a very positive indication of the general confidence in the platform. What often happens following a positive announcement, bonus or resurgence in the market is that the top end rises first and over time this growth trickles down into lower priced players.

Given the current situation with regards to a lack of football and dividends generally being paid out to higher priced, more popular players - it may take time for money to start flooding into the lower end of the market as in the short term, many players have little access to earning dividends. As discussed in the last two blog posts, the recent drops in price create great opportunities for those willing to wait until football returns to start seeing huge price increases.

In the short term, players gaining transfer speculation may increase in price given the chance of earning media dividends. We may see players gaining transfer links rise further next month once media dividends open up to 5 spaces - even if the payout is just 1p for 3rd, 4th and 5th spot.

Nevertheless, these payouts may well be enough to entice traders to buy into players who are creeping up the media rankings - especially with the dividend deadline being delayed to 8pm.

Therefore, now could be a good opportunity to buy into players who are currently gaining transfer links or are likely to do so over the next 2/3 months as these players may have a chance of earning media dividends. Furthermore, the current postponement in the season is reportedly leading to FIFA considering extending how long the transfer window is open for, which (Over the next 3-9 months) could benefit players gaining transfer links.
