EURO 2020 Non PB League to PB League Players

Updated: Feb 3

As January approaches, players who could secure a transfer are continuing to increase in price. The average price rise of those highlighted in last weeks transfer blog have already increased 5.6% in price and that is in just 7 days.

Using the EURO Qualifiers Database you can easily filter to find players which are in Non PB leagues, but, are likely to be in the squad of their EURO 2020 side and you can also filter to find players which are in the Champions League or Europa League too. I have also used the Transfer Database to find some players which could be on the move in the near future.

Below are players which currently play in Non PB Leagues, but, could move to a PB league in the future and are also likely to be in their EURO 2020 national team's squad. The reason that these players could increase in the near future is that the speculation that a player will be in a PB league drives demand from the market because the player will have a greater chance of potentially earning dividends. Furthermore, if the player is to transfer there is also the possibility of the player earning media dividends too.

Often this increased demand is irrational to some extent as there will be players from Non PB leagues that increase in price so much due to this speculation that they end up more expensive than a player with similar chances of earning match day dividends than a player already in a PB league.

Given it is still over a month until the January transfer window opens, there is still a strong chance we will see further rises in price in some of the below players in the short term up until January.

It is worth mentioning that an alternative strategy may be to buy after the January transfer window at prices which are likely to be less than below prices, unless a transfer to a PB league does go through in January.

*PB Scores below are from this season only

1. Bruno Fernandes

Bruno Fernandes

Team: Sporting Lisbon

Country: Portugal

EURO 2020: Yes

European Tournament: Yes

Position: Midfielder (Attacking)

Age: 25

Price: £2.88

Top 3 PB scores: 255, 242, 201

Bruno Fernandes is arguably the best player in the world that is not currently in a PB league and so had to make this list despite already increasing considerably this week.

Fernandes suits the PB matrix very well and has consistently hit very high PB scores in the past as he can contribute with many goals and assists from midfield. Last season there were many transfer rumours linking Fernandes to a Premier League move and these stories are starting to emerge once again with Tottenham Hotspur being the team reportedly interest in Fernandes.

If Eriksen is to leave Tottenham Hotspur then Fernandes would be a quality replacement and he has a strong chance of earning Media Dividends over the next few months and further capital appreciation is likely if the rumours do become a reality given Fernandes' PB potential.

2. Dani Olmo

Dani Olmo

Team: Dinamo Zagreb

Country: Spain

EURO 2020: Yes

European Tournament: Yes

Position: Midfielder (Attacking)

Age: 21

Price: £2.19 *First highlighted at £1.56

Top 3 PB scores: 230, 208, 100

Dani Olmo has stood out this season for Dinamo Zagreb which has attracted the attention of various top teams in PB leagues as well as helping him earn a call up to the Spain national side.

Olmo is young and has a lot of potential to earn future match day dividends. He has already increased in price this month, but, if the transfer rumours persist then there is a strong chance he will increase in price further.

3. Myron Boadu

Myron Boadu

Team: AZ Alkmaar

Country: Netherlands

EURO 2020: Yes

European Tournament: Yes

Position: Forward

Age: 18

Price: £1.98 *First highlighted at £1.33

Top 3 PB scores: 226, 144, 133

Myron Boadu is having an incredibly impressive season in the Eredivise for an 18 year old. He already has 8 goals and 4 assists in just 13 games and so it is only a matter of time until a better team attempts to sign him.

He has also gained a call up to the Netherlands national squad where he came on as a substitute and scored last Tuesday (19/11/2019). Even if Boadu does not transfer in the coming months, he looks like he could be a very strong long term hold given his proven quality at such a young age already.

Again, Boadu has already increased in price already, but, if he starts to get linked to strong PB teams - there is a strong chance he will increase in price further. Fellow AZ Alkmaar 20 year old Calvin Stengs is also a strong option and from what we have seen so far could suit the PB matrix better than Boadu.

4. Steven Bergjwin

Steven Bergjwin

Team: PSV Eindhoven

Country: Netherlands

EURO 2020: Yes

European Tournament: Yes

Position: Forward (Winger)

Age: 22

Price: £1.53

Top 3 PB scores: 169, 121, 121

Steven Bergwijn is another young player performing at a very high standard in the Eredivisie with 2 goals and 7 assists in his first 10 games this season.

Bergwijn has been linked to various teams in PB leagues and there is a reasonably strong chance the rumours will emerge again at some point between now and the end of January. Therefore, he could increase in price in the short term due to this speculation as well as him playing in the Europa League and possibly at EURO 2020 with Netherlands.

5. Tyler Roberts

Tyler Roberts

Team: Leeds United

Country: Wales

EURO 2020: Yes

European Tournament: No

Position: Midfielder (Attacking)

Age: 20

Price: £0.72

Top 3 PB scores: N/A

Tyler Roberts has made this list not because of a potential transfer, but, because he appears to be relatively strong value given his price, age and his chance of playing in the Premier League next season with Leeds United (Currently 2nd in the Championship).

Roberts has started the last 3 games for Leeds and has also featured for Wales who have recently qualified for EURO 2020. The upside in Robert's current price is very high given Leeds have a reasonably strong chance of promotion and because if he does feature for Wales at EURO 2020 this may attract stronger teams if Leeds are not promoted.

Of course the downside is that in the short term, Roberts has no access to potentially earning dividends and so this is more of a potential long term hold than the rest of the players on this list.

A few other younger players which could also move to a PB league in the future and could feature at EURO 2020 are below:

Additional Options

Erling Braut Haland - £3.90

Donyell Malen - £2.25

Calvin Stengs - £2.23

Donny Van De Beek - £1.76

Dominik Szoboszlai - £1.63

Nikola Vlasic - £0.79

Sebastian Syzmanski - £0.77
