Player Review

Takumi Minamino is an attacking midfielder for Liverpool. Minamino signed for Liverpool for just £7.25 million as Liverpool activated his release clause and so this low fee does not reflect Minamino's true value. Minamino has an excellent first touch and can combine his excellent ball control, acceleration and vision to open up space for himself and make accurate passes. Minamino is also strong at dribbling, averaging 3.2 dribbles per 90. Minamino's abilities make him a versatile player who can play in attacking midfielder, on the wing or in a deeper central midfield role. For Liverpool, he is likely to feature as more of an attacking midfielder in a 4-3-3 or behind the center forward in a 4-2-3-1. Minamino scored a total of 9 goals and provided 11 assists for RB Salzburg in just 20 games earlier this season, proving he has a strong end-product and although this was mostly against relatively weak sides in Austria, he also showed his qualty against stronger opposition in the Champions League. Although Minamino's movement off the ball is strong, Minamino's style of play does not particularly suit the PB matrix, averaging just 28 passes and 1.5 crosses per game. When Minamino scored the game winning goal against Genk earlier this season, his PB score of 187 was not so high. Overall, as Minamino will be playing for a very strong side and does have the potential to contribute towards goals often, if he can continue to develop and get more game time, he could hit high PB scores in the future for Liverpool.

Price Analysis

Takumi Minamino's price started the season at just £0.41. Minamino's price first increased considerably following strong Champions League performances and then in December when reports confirmed that Minamino would sign for Liverpool, his price rocketed up to a peak price of £2.17. Since then, Minamino's price has declined considerably due to a lack of game time and had bottomed out at £1.40. Minamino's price has begun to rise recently as speculation of increased game time grows. Minamino could certainly feature more towards the end of the season. At £1.51, Minamino's price appears unlikely to drop considerably, but the upside is very high if he can impress for Liverpool. Overall, Minamino appears a fairly strong hold ahead of the Premier League returning as if he stands out, his price could increase considerably. Over summer, Minamino may remain relatively stagnant given the lack of transfer speculation.
