Peak PB Scores
Mateo Kovacic is a central midfielder for Chelsea. Kovacic has had a strong 2019-2020 season for Chelsea and has shown a lot of PB potential. Kovacic has averaged a very high 70 passes, 2.3 tackles and 1.6 key passes per 90. Such strong involvement in games has led to very high base PB scores and Kovacic hit a 244 earlier this season without scoring or assisting. Kovacic's greatest strength, however, is his dribbling ability. Kovacic will often deceive opposition players by shaping up to pass but instead will use his quick acceleration to burst past an opposition player and progress forward with the ball before making a pass. This often helps Chelsea get the ball further up the pitch so they can get into more dangerous areas. Kovacic has the highest success rate (86%) of all players to have attempted 50+ dribbles this season. Kovacic successfully completes 3.9 dribbles per 90, but he infrequently completes dribbles in the final third and has only scored two goals this season. Kovacic's strong dribbling, passing and tackling ability is likely to lead to high PB averages, but to hit high peak PB scores more regularly he would benefit from scoring more often. Overall, Kovacic could struggle with competition in midfield for Chelsea, but given his quality he does appear likely to earn match day dividends in the future.
1 Year Price Graph
Mateo Kovacic's price started the season at £0.68. After hitting form in November and hitting his two highest PB scores of the 2019-2020 season in the space of a week, Kovacic's price flew up quickly to £1.18 and then rose even further to £1.54 by December. Kovacic's price increased such a considerable amount due to the strong trend towards high PB scoring players during the time in which Kovacic hit high PB scores. Kovacic's price has since dropped and sits at a market price of £1.10 with an instant sell price of £0.77. Kovacic does not appear particularly strong value at his current market price, but given his potential to earn match day dividends in the future, he would appear strong value if bought via a matched bid around £0.85-£0.95. If Kovacic can add more goals to his game, he is likely to earn match day dividends next season and he could increase in price ahead of EURO 2021.
