Player Review

M'Baye Niang is a center forward for Rennes. Niang had a strong 2019-2020 for Rennes with a a total of 15 goals in 36 games. Niang is strong at getting into dangerous areas to shoot and averages a high 2.8 shots per 90, hitting 43% on target. Niang is a strong finisher but he does not suit the PB matrix particularly well due to a general lack of involvement in games, averaging a very low 15 passes per 90. Niang's two highest PB scores both came when he scored braces including the GWG. Therefore, it is unlikely that Niang will hit the peak PB scores needed to earn match day dividends often and he may be limited to only having a strong chance of earning match day dividends on match days when there is a small pool of fixtures. Niang's ability to score frequently makes him a strong player for potentially earning In-Play Dividends, especially during the 5X IPD promotion.

Price Analysis

M'baye Niang's price started the season at £0.58. Niang's price hit a peak of £0.89 in September 2019 after scoring 2 goals in the first 3 games of the season. Since then, Niang's price has dropped considerably due to failure to earn match day or media dividends. Niang currently has a market price of £0.69 with an instant sell price of £0.64 and this tight spread shows the current strong demand fro Niang. In the short term, Niang could be a strong hold given his potential to earn a considerable amount of his price in In-Play Dividends and he will also benefit from Rennes playing in Europe. However, once the IPD promotion comes to an end, his inabiltiy to hit high peak PB scores could lead to his spread widening. Overall, Niang appears fairly strong value at his current price, but there may be a lack of demand for Niang in periods of the season where he fails to score regularly which could result in him being difficult to sell.
