Player Review

Jonathan David is a second striker for KAA Gent. David plays in between the number 10 and number 9 role and in this position, David constantly seeks to find space to shoot and will often score by arriving into the box late. David is very fast, strong at dribbling and is a particularly strong finisher. In the 2019-2020 season, David scored a total of 23 goals and provided 10 assists in 40 games for Gent. If David secures a transfer to a PB league in the future, he is unlikely to hit high PB scores often due to completing a low amount of passes per game and being weak defensively. However, due to being such a strong finisher, he may score braces/hat-tricks in the future and consequently hit high peak PB scores and possibly earn match day dividends. David also has an outside chance of earning media dividends in the future if he signs for a Premier League side, but this appears unlikely now as he has recently hinted that he would prefer to move to Ligue 1 with Lille reportedly interested.

Price Analysis

Jonathan David was IPO'd on 22nd November at £1.10. David's price had slowly grown and was sat at £1.80 at the beginning of February 2020. Due to scoring 9 goals in his last 8 games, David's price rocketed upwards as Premier League transfer links started to grow. David's price grew in response to Arsenal and Manchester United transfer links in particular and his price hit a peak of £2.76 in late February. David's price has dropped slightly since, due to the cancellation of the Belgian Pro League and currently sits at £2.54 with an instant sell price of £2.10. Although David could be a strong longer term hold given his goal-scoring ability at such a young age, his price could decline in the short term. David has said that he is not currently interested in a move to the Premier League and he appears most likely to sign for Lille. As his price has recently become built up on the speculation of a Premier League move - his price may drop and his spread could widen if he does sign for Lille. Longer term, signing for Lille could be a strong move for David as if he performs well for Lille, Premier League transfer links are likely to emerge, similarly to how they have developed after Osimhen's first season in Ligue 1.
