Peak PB Scores
Jean-Philippe Mateta is a center forward for Mainz. Mateta had a very strong 2018-2019 season with 14 goals in 34 games scoring once every 181 minutes. However, he had a poor 2019-2020 season with only 3 goals in 18 games, scoring once every 352 minutes. Mateta's poor form in the 2019-2020 season could partly be explained by suffering a torn meniscus at the start of the season and subsequently only playing 3 full 90 minutes. Mateta is fast, strong at heading and a clinical finisher. Mateta's attacking awarness has helped him score plenty of goals and depsite having a poor season, he has still gained interest from a number of teams recently. Mateta has extended his contract at Mainz until 2023 and so may not move this summer, but reports in Germany have recently reported that Atletico Madrid and Sevilla are interested in Mateta. Overall, Mateta does not suit the PB matrix very well as he only averages 11 passes per 90, but at a stronger side he could possibly earn match day dividends by scoring braces/hat-tricks. Whilst at Mainz, Mateta may struggle to earn match day dividends, unless Mainz improve next season.
1 Year Price Graph
Jean-Philippe Mateta's price started the season at £0.86. Mateta's price hit a peak of £1.34 in January 2020 as the speculation of his return from injury grew. However, due to his poor form since his return from injury, his price dropped to a low of £0.93 during the Covid-19 dip. Since then, Mateta's price grew to £1.21 as the Bundesliga returned but again his lack of goals led to his price declining and his price currently sits at £1.03. Mateta currently has a wide spread with an instant sell price of £0.62 showing the lack of demand for him. Given Mateta's wide spread, it is likely he could be purchased at a considerable discount on his market price. Mateta is still relatively young and he has a lot of potential to improve further in the future and so given the current lack of demand for him, he may be a strong hold if purchased via a matched bid. If transfer links develop, Mateta's spread is likely to tighten. Overall, Mateta does not appear particularly strong value at his market price given his recent, poor season. But, due to his wide spread it is likely he could be purchased at what would appear a fairly favourable price.
