Player Review

Ferran Torres is a winger for Manchester City. Torres was signed by Manchester City in August 2020 for £20.8million after having an impressive breakthrough season for Valencia. Torres has strong ball control and rapid acceleration which he uses to dribble past opponents often, successfully completing a high 56.5% of his 3.78 dribbles attempted per 90. Torres is right footed and has predominantly played as a right winger throughout his career, but he can also play as a left winger and cut inside. At Manchester City, he is likely to continue to play on the right win with Raheem Sterling on the left wing, but it would be unsuprising to see these two, rapid wingers occassionally swap positions throughout games. Torres attempted a high 3.61 crosses per 90 last season, but only 15.4% of his crosses successfully met a teammate. With 6 assists in 36 La Liga games, Torres certainly had the ability to create chances for teammates and his low crossing success rate is more due to him often attempting to drill crosses into dangerous areas which can often be cut out by defenders, but when successful can lead to big chances. Torres also averaged 1.41 shots per 90, but only hit 37.2% of his shots on target. Last season, Torres failed to hit any particularly high PB scores throughout the season, but he has a lot of potential to hit higher PB scores in the future as he continues to improve his end-product. Torres improved dramatically throughout last season and his recent strong performances for Spain could lead to him being selected by Pep Guardiola for Manchester City towards the start of the Premier League. However, Torres may struggle to hit high peak PB scores throughout the 2020-2021 season for Mancehster City due to a lack of regular full 90 minute appearances as he will face competition from other high quality players at Manchester City.

Price Analysis

Ferran Torres' price started the 2019-2020 season at £1.27. Having first been highlighted on FIC at £1.27 last season, Torres was highlighted as a valuable player a further 5 times and each time his price continued to rise as his development and improved performances continued to attract traders. Torres' price has remained relatively stagnant in recent months due to the lack of transfer speculation as his move to Manchester City was confirmed. Torres currently has a market price of £2.84 with an instant sell price of £2.45 and it is likely that he could be purchased at a valuable price within his spread. Once order books are introduced, his market price is likely to settle somewhere between his current buy now and instant sell price. Torres' improvement over the last 12 months has been very impressive and he has a lot of potential to improve further, especially under Guardiola's guidance. Overall, Torres' price could fluctuate throughout the 2020-2021 season depending on the amount of game time he secures, but longer term he could be a particularly strong hold and could also benefit from playing for Spain at EURO 2021 and then the 2022 World Cup.

Cheers Pj! I think a few goals on Torres' return in La Liga and with the momentum behind him combined with the growing transfer speculation - we could see a considerable increase in price. He's not on the level of Havertz / Haaland but we could see a similar rise (On a smaller level) due to strongly suiting the trend of being a quality, youth talent with transfer links. Video going over more of Torres' stats here too: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PwfFOObvIaQ

#mufc, Man City, Liverpool, Real Madrid, Barcelona and Juventus have been following Ferran Torres’ situation at Valencia with interest. He is out of contract in 12 months time. He will likely go on the market for a knockdown price this summer - Source The Athletic

Hi As98, great question! I don't think this will have too negative an impact on his price as I believe if his price were to drop slightly, many traders would look to take advantage of the drop and buy into him. Short term, if the transfer speculation was to be postponed due to a contract extension, then I suppose his price would be less likely to continue to rise as much as it has recently because part of this rise has been caused by transfer speculation. However, longer term I expect Torres' price to continue to rise and it is likely he would still gain transfer speculation in the future. Furthermore, signing a contract will not rule out a transfer and I am sure what happened with Bruno Fernandes will still be fresh in a lot of trader's minds - Bruno signed a contract and dropped in price on FI and then not too long later signed for Manchester United. So, overall if I was holding Ferran now - I personally would not be too worried about a contract extension and if he does sign one and drop, I will be looking to buy back in.

If Ferran Torres signs a contract at Valencia would this affect his price negatively?
