Player Review

Declan Rice is a defensive midfielder for West Ham United. Rice has already broke onto the scene for West Ham United and so speculation and hype around Rice is likely to be limited to whether he gains transfer speculation in the future. Rice is very solid defensively, making 3 tackles per 90 (2nd on Football Index for U22's, behind Camavinga) and 2.1 interceptions per 90 (4th on Football Index for U22's, behind 3 defenders). Rice is also fairly strong at passing and has good vision, but for West Ham United he only makes 38 passes per 90. For England, Rice made 98 passes against Bulgaria earlier this season, where he hit his peak PB score of 204 and demonstrated how his PB scores could be higher in a stronger, more dominant side. Rice's contribution in attack is limited, attempting just 0.62 shots per 90, 0.44 key passes per 90 and only 0.27 accruate crosses per 90. Overall, Rice has potential to have a high PB average, but generally does not suit the PB matrix and is unlikely to hit high peak PB scores often.

Price Analysis

Declan Rice's price started the season at £1.75. Rice's price has fluctuated throughout the season between £1.82 and £1.53. Rice's price currently sits at £1.81 with him suiting the current trend towards young, English players and also the trend towards players gaining transfer links very well. Chelsea and Manchester United have been linked with Rice and if transfer speculation was to heat up, it is very likely Rice would return media dividends. West Ham are currently outside of the relegation positions by just goal difference and if they were to be relegated, Rice would become a more attractive hold as it would become increasingly likely that he would secure a transfer this summer. Overall, in the short term, Rice could be a fairly strong hold due to the possibility of transfer links and potential media dividends over summer. However, if a transfer does not go ahead, his price could drop and due to Rice's defensive style of play, he is unlikely to earn match day dividends often and so does not appear such a strong long term hold.
